Grower's Notes (Our Experience):
Weeping purple willow is a variety of Salix purpurea that exhibits a distinct weeping habit rather than growing straight up. Its stems resemble a cross with daphnoides, and we are currently observing how the weeping characteristic impacts its growth and wood properties. Like all our willows, we propagate this variety easily from cuttings, and it develops reliably when provided with consistent water and sunlight.

Weeping Purple Willow (Salix purpurea 'Pendula') is a compact, deciduous ornamental tree or shrub characterized by its elegant cascading growth habit. It features slender, arching purple stems adorned with narrow, blue-green foliage that creates a fine, distinct texture. In early spring, silvery-grey catkins emerge along the bare branches before the new leaves emerge. This slow-growing variety is highly adaptable to moist or wet soils and performs best when planted in full sun, making it well-suited for waterside plantings, low hedges, borders, or as a focal specimen in smaller gardens.
