How To Save Money on Plant Cuttings at Dingdongs Garden

Affordable Plant Cuttings: Real Prices, Volume Discounts & Shipping

At Dingdong’s Garden, we grow and sell dormant plant cuttings and fruit-tree scionwood directly from our family farm on Lopez Island, Washington. Buy a single cutting or combine different varieties in one order. Our mix-and-match discounts on eligible cuttings can reduce the cost of fig, mulberry, grape and willow cuttings, while discounted collections and grower bundles offer further savings.

Our next dormant cutting sale starts January 1, 2027, at 12 p.m. Pacific. Inventory is seasonal and varieties shown now may be sold out until the sale begins. Browse early, add favorites to your wishlist, and request an availability notification on individual product pages.

What Do Plant Cuttings Cost?

Examples from our currently published catalog include fig, mulberry and grape cuttings at $6.90 each and willow cuttings at $3.80 each. These are examples, not a guarantee that every variety or future listing has the same price. See the individual product page for the current price and availability.

Unlike sellers who require multiple cuttings of one variety, we sell individual cuttings with no minimum product quantity. You can select a single fig or build a collection of many different varieties.

Mix-and-Match Discounts on Eligible Orders

  • Orders of $50–$99.99: 10% off eligible merchandise.
  • Orders of $100 or more: 20% off eligible merchandise.
  • Free shipping: For qualifying destinations, an order must have at least $200 in merchandise after combinable product discounts. At 20% off, that generally means $250 in eligible merchandise before the discount.

These tiers describe our intended discount schedule. Percentage discounts apply to eligible Scionwood & Hardwood Cuttings, rather than necessarily every product in your cart. Free shipping is based on the eligible merchandise value remaining after applicable product discounts, as confirmed in our cart testing. Final discounts, shipping eligibility and applicable taxes are determined at checkout.

Maximum Savings: 20% Off + Free Shipping

Eligible cuttings receive 20% off when the merchandise subtotal reaches $100. Qualifying orders receive free shipping when the merchandise total after product discounts reaches $200. Bundles and mixed-variety collections are already reduced in price; where eligible, the additional 20% discount applies to their listed prices. Compare the total delivered cost per cutting, not just the price of a bundle.

Example order Delivered total Per cutting
37 individual fig cuttings $204.24 $5.52
70 individual willow cuttings $212.80 $3.04
10 eight-cutting willow collections (80 cuttings) $218.88 $2.74
2 sixty-cutting willow grower bundles (120 cuttings) $320.00 $2.67
6 willow collections + 4 mulberry collections (64 cuttings) $210.82 $3.29

Examples use published catalog prices: individual fig cuttings $6.90, individual willow cuttings $3.80, eight-cutting willow collections $27.36, four-cutting mulberry collections $24.84, and 60-cutting willow grower bundles $200. Totals assume all selected products receive the additional 20% order discount and that the destination qualifies for free shipping. All examples reach at least $200 after discounts, so shipping is $0; taxes are excluded. Check eligibility and final price at checkout. Prices, inventory and terms may change.

How Do Bundles and Collections Lower the Delivered Cost?

Example: discounted willow collections. Ten eight-cutting willow collections cost 10 × $27.36 = $273.60 for 80 cuttings. With an additional 20% off, the merchandise total becomes $218.88. Because that exceeds the $200 discounted-cart shipping threshold, delivery is free to qualifying destinations: $2.74 delivered per cutting. By comparison, 70 individual willow cuttings at $3.80 each cost $212.80 delivered after the same 20% discount, or $3.04 per cutting.

Example: larger willow grower bundles. Two 60-cutting grower bundles at $200 each total $400 for 120 cuttings. An additional 20% off brings the order to $320 delivered with qualifying free shipping, or $2.67 per cutting. A single $200 bundle discounted to $160 would not meet the $200 post-discount free-shipping threshold by itself.

Example: mix willow and mulberry collections. Six eight-cutting willow collections ($164.16) plus four four-cutting mulberry collections ($99.36) provide 64 cuttings for a listed total of $263.52. Apply an additional 20% off and the total is $210.82 delivered, or about $3.29 per cutting, when free shipping applies. This mixed order includes different species, so compare its cost with the same mix of individually purchased cuttings rather than with willow-only orders.

The lowest delivered unit cost depends on which products you select, how many cuttings are included, discount eligibility, and whether shipping becomes free. Buying more bundles does not automatically lower the per-cutting cost of every order, but choosing already-discounted collections and reaching the free-shipping threshold can lower it substantially.

How Do I Calculate the Delivered Cost per Cutting?

Delivered cost per cutting = (merchandise after discounts + shipping) ÷ total number of individual cuttings. Count every cutting inside a collection or bulk bundle. For qualifying orders at or above $200 after discounts, the shipping charge is $0.

When Does Free Shipping Apply?

In our tested checkout, the $200 free-shipping threshold is measured after percentage discounts. A $200 merchandise order discounted by 20% becomes $160, so it does not yet qualify. At $250 of eligible merchandise, 20% off brings the cart to $200 and free shipping applies for qualifying destinations.

Shop Discounted Collections and Grower Bundles

Our discounted plant-cutting collections let you buy several varieties at an already-reduced price. For larger plantings, browse 60-cutting willow grower bundles. Collections and bundles may also be eligible for the cart-level discount; verify the final combination of discounts and shipping at checkout.

Why Buy Dormant Cuttings Instead of Finished Plants?

Cuttings typically cost less to purchase and transport than established nursery plants because you are doing the propagation and growing yourself. You also get to choose a wider mix of varieties without purchasing a large plant of each. Rooting and grafting results depend on the species, cultivar, timing, growing conditions and propagation technique; buying a cutting does not guarantee a rooted plant.

Our cuttings come from mother plants grown on our farm. To help you get started, we publish planting and propagation information alongside the product listings and on our YouTube channel.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cutting Prices

Can I buy only one fig, mulberry or willow cutting?

Yes. We sell individual cuttings without a minimum product quantity. Shipping is added to orders that do not qualify for a free-shipping offer.

Can I mix fig, grape, mulberry and willow cuttings to earn a discount?

Yes. Eligible products can be mixed in one cart to reach a dollar-based discount threshold. You do not need to buy many of the same variety.

How can I find the cheapest delivered price per cutting?

Divide your final merchandise total after discounts plus shipping by the number of cuttings in your order. For bulk bundles, count the individual cuttings inside each bundle. Compare like-for-like material and take into account that rooting success may vary.

Do discounted collections and bundles receive additional discounts?

The active discounts are configured to combine, but the 10% and 20% codes explicitly apply to Scionwood & Hardwood Cuttings. Collections and bundles may be eligible depending on their assigned product eligibility. The final price is confirmed in checkout.

When is free shipping available?

Our free-shipping offer applies when eligible merchandise totals $200.00 after applicable product discounts, based on our checkout test. For example, with a 20% eligible-product discount, an original $250 merchandise subtotal becomes $200 and can qualify for free shipping to eligible destinations. The available offers have geographic conditions, and the final shipping price is determined at checkout.

How much is shipping on plant cuttings?

Our maximum-savings examples show $0 shipping for qualifying orders. For smaller orders, shipping can vary with package size, weight and destination (often around $14.50). We use USPS Priority Mail for cuttings and scionwood, and show the actual shipping charge at checkout. See our shipping policy for details and geographic restrictions.

Can I combine two separate orders to save on shipping?

No. Orders placed separately must be shipped separately; we cannot combine them into one shipment. Plan a combined cart before checkout when possible.

When can I order cuttings for the 2027 season?

The dormant cutting sale is scheduled to begin January 1, 2027, at 12 p.m. Pacific. Varieties are seasonal and inventory may sell out. See our seasonal sale information for updates.
