Walker's Greenstock Mulberry (Morus alba) Cutting

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Walker's Greenstock came to us as a mis-named variety that didn't have much of a fruit but it had such great characteristics of rooting well and growing vigorously that we decided to keep it. It has become the variety we go to for creating rootstock and providing fodder and biomass. We don't have livestock but we have grown silkworms and the amount of leaves they create matches our silkworms hunger for more.  It terms of propagation rates, we get around 80-90% which isn't perfect, but it's better than some others. Because it was a mis-named variety we called it Walker's Greenstock. Walker was my brother and we thought Greenstock would be appropriate to a variety that has lush foliage and is good for both rootstock and livestock!

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Reliable botanical information for mulberry trees is scarce but in terms of cold hardiness, Walker's Greenstock survived a 10F winter on our farm and came to us from Kentucky so we are pretty confident it is hardy down to Growing Zone 7. Mulberry trees thrive in long, hot growing seasons and can grow quite fast. However, they can survive in a wide range of environments.

This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions. Since plant propagation success rates can vary depending on climate, location, and timing there is no universal recipe for success. If you are new to plant propagation, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on How to Propagate...'.
