Utah Giant Cherry (Prunus avium 'Utah Giant') Scionwood

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Utah Giant cherry is a relatively early variety that requires a pollinator. We harvest it about a week or more before other common varieties like Bing. The fruit has a crimson red to maroon color, features bulging sides rather than a perfectly round shape, and grows a bit fatter than some of our other cherries. It has a sweet profile paired with a distinct flavor that compares favorably to Bing.

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Utah Giant Cherry is a deciduous sweet cherry tree producing large, firm, heart-shaped fruit with dark red skin and sweet flesh. The tree exhibits medium vigor with a semi-erect growth habit, reaching a mature height of 12 to 20 feet depending on rootstock. It blooms in early April and the fruit ripens mid-season, typically from late May to early June. This variety requires 800 chill hours and a cross-pollinator such as Bing, Rainier, or Van. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 5 through 9, it performs best in full sun and well-drained soil.

This product is a dormant cutting that will generally be used for grafting onto an existing tree of the same type or onto compatible rootstock. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee grafting success. If you are new to grafting, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on Grafting...'.
