Shinseiki Pear (Pyrus pyrifolia 'Shinseiki') Scionwood

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Shinseiki Asian Pear is an early-season variety that produces a high volume of yellow fruit for us. In our Maritime Pacific Northwest climate, the fruit ripens in mid-to-late August and has a sweet flavor. We have found the tree to be healthy, maintaining deep green foliage with minimal disease issues even in poor clay soil conditions. It typically takes a couple of years to begin producing fruit, but it becomes regular and productive once established.

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Shinseiki Asian Pear is an upright, spreading deciduous tree reaching a mature height of 15 to 25 feet and a spread of 20 feet. It features clusters of white flowers along the branches in early spring before the foliage emerges. The dark green summer leaves turn shades of orange and red in the autumn. It produces medium to large, round, yellow-skinned fruit with crisp, sweet, and juicy white flesh that ripens in late summer. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 5 through 9, this variety performs best in full sun and adapts to various soil types, including clay, provided there is good drainage.

This product is a dormant cutting that will generally be used for grafting onto an existing tree of the same type or onto compatible rootstock. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee grafting success. If you are new to grafting, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on Grafting...'.
