Flame Yellow Willow (Salix alba var vitellina ‘Flame Yellow') Cutting
Grower's Notes (Our Experience):
Yellow flame Willow features bright green colored leaves set against brown or reddish-yellow stems. It is similar to Flame willow but carries a lighter shade, drying to a more distinct yellow color over about six months. We manage our willows by coppicing them close to the ground; when cut back to a stump, they regrow rapidly within the first two months of spring, allowing you to maintain a hedge that is green in the summer and colorful in the winter. Like all willows, we propagate this variety easily from cuttings placed either directly in the ground or in a four-inch pot. Provided it receives adequate water and sunlight it will readily take root and grow.

Flame Yellow Willow (Salix fragilis f. vitellina 'Flame Yellow') is a deciduous shrub grown for its distinctive stem coloration. The stems display a bright yellow color during summer, transitioning to orange in autumn and red in winter. This fast-growing variety features narrow, green foliage and adapts to various soil conditions, thriving in full sun and moist environments. It responds well to annual pruning to the ground, which regulates its size and encourages vibrant new growth. Suitable for winter interest, hedges, and privacy screens.
