Lemoine's Improved Willow (Salix caprea 'Lemoine's Improved') Cutting

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Le Moine's Improved willow is a Salix caprea variety known for its unique catkins. The multicolored catkins are more densely packed and bunch together differently than other varieties. We maintain this plant by pruning all of the current year's growth annually, which helps bring out its special characteristics. As always, when it comes to willow, we recommend purchasing a cutting rather than a potted nursery plant, as our cuttings have a 95% success rate when planted directly into a pot or the ground.  So much cheaper!

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Lemoine's Improved Willow (Salix caprea 'Lemoine's Improved') is a deciduous variety of pussy willow. This plant features densely packed, multicolored catkins in mid-spring, followed by large, ruffled leaves. It reaches a height of 8 to 10 feet. It is hardy in USDA Zone 3 and above, performing best in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained soil. Annual pruning is recommended to maintain size and maximize catkin production. Suitable for use as an ornamental feature, low hedge, or for cut stems.

This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions. Since plant propagation success rates can vary depending on climate, location, and timing there is no universal recipe for success. If you are new to plant propagation, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on How to Propagate...'.
