Jaune de Falaise Willow (Salix alba vitellina x fragilis 'Jaune de Falaise') Cutting

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Jaune de Falaise is a willow variety that we grow for its distinctive winter color and colorful stems. At the tips of the branches, the stems exhibit a red color, transitioning to yellow with red highlights toward the bottom. When dried, the wood turns to a reddish-brown color. To maintain these specific color characteristics on the first-year wood, we prune the plants back severely every year near the ground or through pollarding. The resulting yearly cuttings retain their coloration well after drying.

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Jaune de Falaise is a basketry willow variety used for weaving and ornamental winter color. The stems emerge bright red at the tips, transitioning down to yellow with red highlights on older wood, and dry to a reddish-brown color. To maintain vibrant stem color and promote straight first-year growth, the plant requires annual pruning or pollarding in late winter near the ground or at waist height.

This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions. Since plant propagation success rates can vary depending on climate, location, and timing there is no universal recipe for success. If you are new to plant propagation, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on How to Propagate...'.
