Hakuro Korean Willow (Salis koreensis 'Hakuro') Cutting
Grower's Notes (Our Experience):
Not to be confused with Hakuro Nishiki dappled willow, Hakuro Korean Willow is a variety originating from Asia, likely Korea or Japan, that features green foliage with distinct red tips on its growing branches. We prune this and our other willow back to the ground every year to harvest the rods and cuttings. This encourages lush new growth that can reach five to seven feet by the end of the summer. Because it grows quickly and responds well to regular coppicing or pollarding, we find it serves as an excellent option for creating a garden hedge.

Salix integra 'Hakuro', commonly known as Hakuro Willow, is a deciduous shrub native to East Asia. It features green foliage throughout the growing season, with the youngest growth at the branch tips turning a distinct red color. This fast-growing variety responds well to coppicing or regular pruning, making it suitable for hedges, borders, or garden accents. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soils. Mature heights reach 5 to 7 feet depending on management practices.
