Grower's Notes (Our Experience):
Gloire de Sablons currant features fruit with a dark pink color and visible seeds through its translucent skin. We find this variety easy to propagate from cuttings, achieving a 90% to 100% success rate when rooting them in a pot or directly in the ground during winter. The berries are tart and are best used for baking or processed with sugar into jam and preserves. We find this variety to be prolific, productive, and healthy, maintaining vibrant bright green foliage that shows resistance to many pests.

Gloire de Sablons is a French heirloom pink currant variety characterized by an upright growth habit and a mature height and spread of 3 to 5 feet. This deciduous shrub produces strings of small, greenish-yellow flowers in early spring, followed by abundant yields of translucent pink berries that ripen in mid-summer. The fruit is tart and flavorful, suitable for fresh eating, desserts, jams, and jellies. The plant is self-fertile, cold-hardy to USDA zones 3 through 8, and shows resistance to mildew and rust. It performs best in full sun to partial shade and requires fertile, well-drained soil.
