Dwarf Arctic, Nana Willow (Salix purpurea 'Nana') Cutting

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Dwarf Arctic Willow, also known as nana willow, is an interesting variety that we grow. It features very fine stems and pointed leaves, setting it apart from other willows. Unlike traditional varieties whose branches thicken at the base and taper as they grow up, these stems remain very fine all the way to the bottom. Nana willow can get quite large becoming a massive bush. While we don't have much experience with untraditional bonsai varieties, this seems like it would be a fun one to experiment with.

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Dwarf Arctic Willow is a compact, dense, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub reaching a mature height of 3 to 5 feet with a spread of 3 to 6 feet. It features slender, upright purple stems and narrow, fine-textured blue-green foliage that turns yellow in the autumn. Grayish-white catkins emerge on bare branches in early spring before the leaves unfold. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 3 through 8, this variety performs best in full sun to partial shade and thrives in moist to wet, well-drained soils, including heavy clay.

This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions. Since plant propagation success rates can vary depending on climate, location, and timing there is no universal recipe for success. If you are new to plant propagation, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on How to Propagate...'.
