Crandall Black Currant (Ribes odoratum 'Crandall Black') Cutting

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Crandall black is a variety that we grow not only for its fruit, but it is also a beautiful flowering currant. We find that it features pretty, fragrant flowers, making it a suitable choice if you are looking for a black currant that offers both floral and fruiting qualities.

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Crandall Black Currant (Ribes odoratum 'Crandall') is a thornless, deciduous shrub native to North America that grows 3 to 7 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide. In spring, the plant produces yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers with a clove fragrance. These blooms are followed by edible, purple-black berries that ripen in mid-summer, measuring up to 0.75 inches in diameter. The fruit features a sweet flavor suitable for fresh eating, baking, jams, and juices. Hardy in USDA Zones 3 to 8, this variety prefers full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. In autumn, the green foliage turns shades of red and yellow.

This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions. Since plant propagation success rates can vary depending on climate, location, and timing there is no universal recipe for success.
