Craigs Crimson Cherry (Prunus avium 'Craigs Crimson') Scionwood
Grower's Notes (Our Experience):
Craig's Crimson cherry is a variety we grow and have sold at the farmers market. This tree produces deep red fruit that ripens early in the season, coming in right after Early Burlat and Chelan. It is a self-fruitful and self-pollinating variety, meaning it does not require multiple varieties to set fruit, though cross-pollination can increase the yield. It is a small, natural semi-dwarf tree, and because it is no longer patented, we can offer its scion wood for sale online.
Botanical Specs & Profile:
Craig's Crimson Cherry is a naturally semi-dwarfing sweet cherry tree that produces medium to large fruit ranging in color from dark red to nearly black. The fruit features a firm texture and a sweet, lightly spiced flavor profile. This variety is self-fertile, though cross-pollination with another midseason or later blooming sweet cherry can increase fruit yields. The tree reaches a mature height of 10 to 14 feet, produces white blossoms in late spring, and is suitable for USDA hardiness zones 4 through 9, requiring 500 to 600 chill hours.
This product is a dormant cutting that will generally be used for grafting onto an existing tree of the same type or onto compatible rootstock. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee grafting success. If you are new to grafting, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on Grafting...'.
