B.P. Moretini Pear (Pyrus communis 'B.P. Moretini') Scionwood
Grower's Notes (Our Experience):
BP Moretini is a European pear variety that we grow in the San Juans, where it has shown strong disease resistance and prolific production. This variety resembles a smaller version of the Ubeline pear and ripens early in the summer around the same time. For the best flavor, we recommend harvesting the fruit and allowing it to finish ripening for a few days before eating.
Botanical Specs & Profile:
Butirra Precoce Moretini is a vigorous, deciduous European pear tree reaching a mature height of 12 to 16 feet with a wide pyramidal habit. It features a midseason bloom period and produces medium to large, pyriform fruit that ripens early in the summer. The fruit has thin, smooth skin that turns green-yellow with a red blush, encasing white, juicy, and sweet flesh. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 5 through 9, this variety requires a cross-pollinator with a matching bloom period and performs best in full sun and well-drained soil.
This product is a dormant cutting that will generally be used for grafting onto an existing tree of the same type or onto compatible rootstock. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee grafting success. If you are new to grafting, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on Grafting...'.
