Pokey's Pink Flowering Currant (Ribes sanguineum 'Pokey's Pink') Cutting

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Pokey's Pink flowering currant is a variety we grow that produces pink blossoms in late March, providing an early food source for bees when they begin foraging. We find that this shrub is easy to propagate by taking cuttings during its dormant stage in the late fall or winter and planting them in a pot or the ground. For us, the unique scent of currants signifies the arrival of early spring.

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Pokey's Pink Flowering Currant is an upright, dense deciduous shrub reaching a mature height of 5 to 10 feet and a spread of 3 to 6 feet. It features pendulous clusters of pink flowers flushed with white that emerge in early spring. The aromatic, lobed green summer leaves turn gold in the autumn. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 5 through 9, this variety performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, acidic soils.

This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions. Since plant propagation success rates can vary depending on climate, location, and timing there is no universal recipe for success. If you are new to plant propagation, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on How to Propagate...'.
