Grower's Notes (Our Experience):
Waterfall Willow is a unique variety that we find immediately droops and spreads across the ground rather than growing upwards like traditional weeping willows. Unless it is staked, it prefers to crawl, making it an excellent choice for a ground cover or for draping over rocks. We found that we needed stakes initially to get it off the ground, as it lacks the vertical structure of other varieties. Because it is overshadowed by more vigorous varieties in our willow bed, the foliage remains green for us even in lower light conditions, providing distinctive low-profile coverage for your garden.
Botanical Specs & Profile:
Salix integra 'Pendula Waterfall' is a dwarf weeping deciduous tree characterized by its cascading, reddish-brown branches and slender, bright green leaves. In spring, it produces yellow catkins before the foliage emerges. Due to its prostrate growth habit, it spreads along the ground unless staked, making it suitable as ground cover, for weeping over rocks, or as a patio specimen. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade and reaches a mature height and spread of 1.5 to 2.5 meters.
This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions.
