Pink Champagne Red Currant (Ribes rubrum 'Pink Champagne') Cutting

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Pink Champagne currant is a variety we grow that belongs to the red currant family. Because the berries lack heavy pigment, they are translucent and turn a pink color when they are ripe. In general, lighter-colored currants are less tart and milder in flavor, but we still find red and white currants to be hard to eat without processing into baked goods or adding sugar. While you can enjoy Pink Champagne currants straight from the bush, we recommend using them for cooking or baking into pastries.

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Pink Champagne Currant is an upright, vigorous deciduous shrub reaching a mature height of 3 to 5 feet and a similar spread. It features pendulous clusters of translucent, light pink berries that ripen in mid-July. The fruit has a balanced sweet-tart flavor profile, making it suitable for fresh consumption, baking, and processing into jams and jellies. This self-fertile variety performs best in full sun to partial shade and adapts to rich, well-drained soils across USDA hardiness zones 3 through 7.

This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions. Since plant propagation success rates can vary depending on climate, location, and timing there is no universal recipe for success.
