Goldstones Willow (Salix purpurea ‘Goldstones’) Basketry Willow Cutting

Grower's Notes (Our Experience):

Goldstones Willow is a variety we grow primarily for basket weaving. This willow can exhibit a two-tone pattern on the branches, featuring a lighter shading and a darker shading that repeats between the nodes or leaf joints. When the wood is dried, the color between these nodes fades. Like all purpureas, it's a good weaver.

Botanical Specs & Profile:

Goldstones Willow (Salix purpurea 'Goldstones') is a deciduous, fine-stemmed shrub variety utilized primarily for basketry. New stems begin as a deep red mahogany, transitioning to golden green by autumn and pale yellow-tan by the end of winter. When dried, the rods exhibit a green color and provide good tension for weaving. It produces 4 to 8 foot rods in a single growing season. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 4 and above, this variety performs best in full sun and thrives in moist to wet soils.

This product is a dormant cutting that will take root, leaf out, and grow if planted under the right conditions. Since plant propagation success rates can vary depending on climate, location, and timing there is no universal recipe for success. If you are new to plant propagation, follow the link on each product page for 'Videos on How to Propagate...'.
