Varieties Not Available in 2026

Each year during our harvest, we evaluate the health of individual trees. We sometimes have 1) trees that grow slowly, 2) trees that were damaged by a hard winter, and 3) trees that didn't produce good diameter cuttings. Varieties that are not available this year will show the following banner on their product page:

We apologize to all of you who have been waiting for a specific variety and we are doing our best to improve the availability and quality of our cuttings for future years and have them available for next year. We are also trying to grow more and more of items that sell out. Below is a broad overview of why specific varieties are unavailable in 2026 and what we are doing to improve.

Fig Cuttings - Our harvest of fig cuttings increased 30% this year but interest in low cost figs is always high. We hope to increase quantity next year by propagating our existing varieties and doubling the size of our fig orchard.

Mulberry Cuttings - Our harvest of mulberry cuttings increaed almost 70% this year but we have many varieties with no inventory. We have several varieties on the website that were lost to cold. Other varieties were pruned to optimized for fruit, not cuttings. Finally, there are some varieties that are extremely slow growing. We are prioritizing cuttings over fruit going forward in order to have more cuttings next year.

Willow - We harvest nearly 50% more wilow cuttings this year. Unfortuately we always have many willow varieties that did not grow as quickly as we expected. We also have several slower-growing varieties that are being crowded out by adjacent vigorous, fast-growing varieties. We plan on continuing to address this by wider spacing and additional plantings. In 2004, we expanded our willow bed by 1,500 plants, this year in 20025 we expanded it by over 9,000.

Grapes - We more than doubled the number of grapevine cuttings this year over last. We have more quantity of some varieties this year but are continuing to move other verified varieties in-ground and improve the growing conditions.

Currants - We tripled the number of currant cuttings available this year and hope to increase the quantity even more next year. We had some varieties that were optimized for fruit production that we coppiced to the ground. This should provide us with more and higher quality cuttings next year.
