Does Fig Cutting Color Affect Propagation Rates?

Does the color of a dormant fig cutting actually matter for rooting? This video tests that theory by comparing dark brown cuttings with green-tinted ones under identical conditions, using heat mats and humidity control. After seven weeks, the results were nearly identical: 18 out of 19 brown cuttings and 23 out of 24 green cuttings successfully developed roots. Since both groups performed so well, the experiment concludes that exterior color doesn't significantly impact propagation. As long as the cuttings are lignified and firm, you can expect high success rates regardless of their hue.
