Toka, Shiro, Italian Prune Plums Medium Tote Bag

The Toka Plum was painted in 1913 by Mary Daisy Arnold (1873-1955) in Waterville, Le Sueur County, Minnesota, United States.

The Italian Prune Plum was painted in 1939 by L.C.C. (Louis Charles Christopher) Krieger (1873-1940) in Beltsville, Prince Georges County, Maryland, United States.

This Shiro Plum was painted in 1911 by Mary Daisy Arnold (1873-1955) in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California, United States.

The Painting:  These are based on watercolors from the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection. These were used to document fruit and nut varieties in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Lithographs of these watercolor paintings were created to illustrate USDA bulletins, yearbooks, and other publications distributed to growers and gardeners across America. Painted imperfections depicted by the artist, such as scab and rot, have been maintained from the original. The image used here has been cropped as well as edited to remove signs of age such as specks, mold, and paper stains.
