What was growing in your state 100 years ago?
Between 1886 and 1942, growers around the United States sent thousands of fruit and nut samples to the United States Department of Agriculture to be identified and painted by around 20 artists. The resulting watercolors were used to create lithographs for use in USDA bulletins, yearbooks, and other publications sent to growers and gardeners across America.
